Oguike Dance: Creative Learning
Oguike Dance in partnership with Serendipity are offering a unique and diverse creative learning programme with one of the UK’s leading contemporary choreographers Henri Oguike.
The programme is centred on Oguike’s passion for exploring the relationship between music and dance, with a host of different opportunities available from half and full day workshops, choreographic residencies and master classes, which can be tailored to suit the participants’ requirements. From young dancers with little experience, through to GCSE, A-Level and Degree Level students, community groups, teachers and dance professionals. The programme is adaptable for all. The programme focuses on providing an insight into Henri Oguike’s choreographic frameworks and practice, with structured sessions exercises exploring rhythm, dynamics, body and spatial awareness and creative tasks to engage and generate movement. Henri Oguike studied at the London Contemporary Dance School, and in 1994 became a founder member of the Richard Alston Dance Company and Artistic Director of Henri Oguike Dance Company from 1999 to 2011. His repertoire includes V4, set to Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, Second Signal, set to the powerful Taiko drums of Japan and Frontline, set to string quartet No. 9 by Dimitri Shostakovich (Currently on the National Curriculum for GCSE Dance).
