A few weeks ago, we were delighted to receive the news from Filmbank Media that Serendipity had been awarded second prize in the Innovation Awards to contribute towards a year round film programme of diversity led film.
As a result, we were invited to an awards evening taking place in Sheffield as part of Cinema for All’s annual conference. The weekend involved talks and film screenings with Serendipity hearing about all the fantastic work that community cinemas are doing around the UK, including in Liverpool, East London and Ballyclare.
When it came time for the awards evening we were settled in for a lovely evening, and were a little unprepared to go up on stage to receive our award and make a speech! However, it was wonderful to meet the team from Filmbank Media, Cinema for all and of course Sheffield’s Lord Mayor Magid Magid. Thank you for the great opportunity to kick start a year round programme putting Black British film stage.
Keep an eye open for more news on BHM Film which will start this October with Gone Too Far! at Phoenix on 3 October.
