Presented by Opal22 Arts and Edutainment. Tickets: free
Join us at Leicester Central Library for a free author talk with acclaimed writer Gerard Alfonzo Daley, featuring a reading from his award-winning novel The Book of Erin, followed by an audience Q&A.
Set in seventeenth century Montserrat, The Book of Erin brings to life a fascinating and often overlooked chapter of Caribbean history, exploring themes of migration, identity, colonialism and resistance. Through vivid storytelling and rich historical detail, Daley uncovers the complex connections between Africa, the Caribbean and the wider Atlantic world.
Following the reading, audiences will have the opportunity to hear directly from the author about the inspiration behind the novel, the historical research that informed it and the power of storytelling to illuminate hidden histories. A must-attend event for lovers of history, literature and Black heritage.
