Black History Month Leicester 2022
If you are planning a digital or physical event for Black History Month 2022, and would like it to be included in the official Black History Month Leicester listings, website and marketing materials, we would like to hear from you!
The Black History Month listings, website and other marketing media will include events taking place in Leicester during the month of October with a focus on the African and African Caribbean Diaspora. If you are submitting a digital or online event, the event organiser must live or work in Leicester to be eligible for inclusion on the Black History Month Leicester listings.
In 2022, Black History Month Leicester will explore the theme, Independence: A New Time, A New Era.
2022 marks the sixtieth anniversary of Jamaican and Trinidad and Tobago’s independence.
In the UK, it marks 35 years since the first Black female politician, Diane Abbott, was elected to parliament and in Leicester 2022, marks 40 years since that start of Talking Blues by Herdle White, the longest serving African Caribbean Presenter on local radio in the UK.
Please send copy and high-resolution images (300dpi) for events you are organising. The Black History Month brochure, website and other marketing media will include events taking place in the month of October only. Please ensure that the information you provide is accurate and eligible to be in the public domain. Event copy is subject to editorial amends to suit the marketing and print media.
In order to be considered for print materials please return the form by 8 July 2022, 12 noon (BST) (LAST CALL). Otherwise, we operate a rolling deadline for inclusion online, subject to review.
