Garden Party 2024 – Buckingham Palace

Pawlet Brookes MBE, CEO and Artistic Director of Serendipity Institute for Black Arts and Heritage attended the Garden Party at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the Creative Industries and support the contribution of culture and diversity within the arts.

The tradition of the Royal Family hosting garden parties’ dates back to the 1860s when Queen Victoria began inviting people to the palace for an afternoon of mingling and tea.

“It was an honour to be invited to the King’s first Garden Party for those from the culture, art, heritage, film, TV, radio and fashion industries.” – Pawlet Brookes MBE

The day was a fabulous celebration of the contribution and significance of the cultural sector above and beyond economics but as the mainstay of contemporary British culture.
