Sydneé Thompson Events Coordinator


Sydneé Thompson is the Events Coordinator for Serendipity, she has graduated from De Montfort University with a Bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts and a Masters degree in Dance and Choreography from the University of Derby.

Sydneé is a freelance dancer, choreographer and dance teacher who has premiered original Dance Theatre work at the Birmingham International Dance Festival and Birmingham 2022 Festival as part of the Commonwealth Games.  2021 saw her original film ‘Blackspace’ programmed in the University Dance Festival and participation in projects championing inclusion and access within dance, with DanceXchange.   As well as this; Sydneé runs creative arts programmes for the local youth at Chroma Church, skilling young people in art forms such as; Dance, Music and Song writing, Photography, Creative Writing and much more.  Throughout her career, Sydneé has worked with individuals from four years old all the way to 70 years old sharing the gift of dance and performance that allows self-expression and healthy mental, and physical wellbeing through sports camps for underprivileged children.

As a steering group member for Commonwealth Games opening ceremony dancers, she has been able to offer insight and perspectives of a young performer, advocating for accessibility within arts and culture.  The accumulation of her experience as a; performer, choreographer and board member, have seen her as a speaker at the; Dance Development Leaders Group Summit 2022.

Sydneé is an advocate for allowing more people to experience the arts, “not just as spectators but as participants in a moment in history.  Making work that tells and re-tells stories, giving the voices back to the voiceless and connecting humanity one count at a time.”
