Young Archivists

The Young Archivists course is aimed at 18 – 30-year-olds of African, African Caribbean, Asian and Latinx heritage based in the UK, who are interested in a career in the heritage and cultural sector. Currently, only 1% of the heritage sector are people from diverse backgrounds. The Young Archivists course aims to address this imbalance and help young people from diverse backgrounds to develop careers in the heritage sector.

The course examines archives and cultural heritage through a diverse and critical lens andaims to develop knowledge of topics sometimes overlooked in mainstream heritage courses. There will be an introduction to archival practice and the key skills and knowledge required to administer an archive. The sessions will be led by industry experts, who will provide valuable insights and knowledge for an effective career in the heritage sector.
